AUTOMOTIVE ELECTRONICS 5 MAF 00:30 WHAT IS A MAF AIR FLOW METER? 01:00 HOW DOES IT WORK? 02:00 HOW ARE IT CHECKED? 06:30 WHY DOES IT BREAK DOWN? 08:30 HOW IS IT CLEANED? WHAT IS MAF? The maf sensor measures the amount of air entering the engine and reports it to the ECU (electronic control unit), the brain of the vehicle, and helps with ignition. A) LOCATION: It is located between the air filter and the throttle body. B) FUNCTION: It reduces fuel consumption by measuring the air entering the engine and reduces exhaust emissions thanks to the values it measures. The maf sensor measures the air coming from the air filter with the sensor inside it and prevents unbalanced air from entering the engine. HOW DOES IT WORK? Its working principle is similar to other sensors. A 4 or 5-pin electrical socket is attached to the part. 5 pin ones are fed separately with 5v and 12v. 4 pin ones are fed only with 12v. Output signals should be measured between 5-9 volts. Max 4.5v is measured in 5 pin. Engine control unit balances and sends the correct amount of fuel to the engine based on air mass information. A) TYPES: a) Classic flap type: Vortex air flow sensors consist of a protruding element that creates resistance to flow in the tube where the air flow is, they are long-lasting b) Hot wire type: It works on the principle that the air flow created on a hot wire causes the temperature in the wire walls to drop and this temperature change is measured? A) WORKING LOGIC: Since the air passing through the sensor applies resistance to the sensor, a value is formed according to the resistance of the air SIGNALS: The working principle is similar to other sensors. A 4 or 5 pin electrical socket is attached to the part. 5 pin ones are fed separately with 5v and 12v. 4-pin ones are only supplied with 12 v. Output signals should be measured between 5-9 volts. Max 4.5 v is measured in 5-pin. The engine control unit balances and sends the correct amount of fuel to the engine based on air mass information. WHAT ARE MAF FAILURES? A) WHY does it break down? Due to crankcase ventilation, oil vapor lubricates the heater surface. Oil causes incorrect measurement. Air filter not changed Leakage in the intake duct Rainwater can enter the engine through the air filter and damage the sensor B) HOW IS THE FAILURE DETECTED? The vehicle's fuel consumption increases The vehicle does not work stably The exhaust emission increases Black smoke It emits fluctuations in idle. HOW IS MAF REPAIR DONE? A) HOW IS IT REMOVED? The air filter bed is removed, then the clamp is removed and removed B) HOW IS IT REPAIRED? The maf sensor is not a part that you can repair. If it is completely broken, unfortunately you have no choice but to replace it. You can easily change the air filter by removing the hose going to the engine. #maf, #flowmeter, #mafcleaning, #idle, #engine, #fault, Join this channel to benefit from the privileges: / @ototeknİk
