BBC News Vietnamese recently traveled to Ubon Ratchathani province in northeastern Thailand to document the alms round of monk Thich Minh Tue. On January 4 and 5, we conducted two interviews with Mr. Doan Van Bau, who claimed to be the “leader” of the group. The interview with Mr. Bau was conducted amid speculation on social media that Mr. Bau was planted by security forces to control the activities of the trip outside of Vietnam.
