Right now there are a record number of wars going on in the world, most notably in Ukraine, the Middle East and Sudan. In many ways, we see a series of new global conflict trends in these wars that affect both the warfare and the vulnerability of the civilian population. In parallel with this, an arming of the Swedish total defense is underway to face crises and, in the worst case, a war. What can Sweden learn from the wars going on in the world and what challenges will this pose to Swedish society and the protection of the civilian population? In this seminar, four global trends from ongoing wars will be discussed: healthcare as a target of war, cyber threats and technology development, urban warfare, and large population movements due to war. In conclusion, we ask ourselves the question whether Sweden is prepared for today's and future wars.
