They are a large group of synthetic chemicals used by many industries for their oil and water repellent properties. However, more and more studies are finding more or less consistent traces of PFAS in the environment. These substances, in fact, have two main problems. The first is that they are also called "forever chemicals" because they do not degrade and remain in the environment for years. While the second is that more and more evidence is emerging of the probable link between these substances and health problems. What are the risks to our health? How can we avoid them? Are there regulations that limit their use? We talk about it in this video with our Giulia Bassetto. We thank the CNR Water Research Institute for the support in the making of this video.
