In the coming years, Rijkswaterstaat will widen the busy motorways between Schiphol, Amsterdam and Almere to improve traffic flow. The A6, between Almere Havendreef and Almere Buiten-Oost, will have four lanes in each direction. From Friday 20 to Monday 23 July 2018, the A6 was largely closed between Almere Stedenwijk and the Almere junction. We previously constructed five kilometres of new lanes here alongside the old road. Traffic was now diverted to these new lanes to create space to remove the 'old' lanes and construct new ones. We also opened a new, temporary viaduct to maintain the connection between Almere north and south.
