About :

Seokchon Lake, beloved as a resting place for citizens, has been transformed into an aquathlon competition venue, a unique sport in the city. Aquathlon is a triathlon that combines open water swimming and marathon, excluding cycling. This year, the second competition, following last year, included a vertical marathon, Sky Run, where participants climbed 2,917 stairs from the 1st floor to the 123rd floor of Lotte World Tower after completing the 1.5 km Seokchon Lake. In particular, the 2023 Aquathlon competition, which was held around Seokchon Lake, a resting place in the city, was a meaningful achievement in that it announced the start of a sports event that could become a result of expanding social value through the Seokchon Lake water quality improvement project. In fact, as a result of requesting a water quality test from a specialized agency ahead of the competition, Seokchon Lake received a grade 1 in almost all water quality environment criteria. The transparency was up to 2m or more, and the average water temperature on the day was 27.6℃, making it a good environment for swimming. About 800 people, about twice as many as last year, participated in this competition, and all participants ran vigorously in the pleasant environment of Seokchon Lake, awakening a spirit of challenge without limits.
