In the years 2001-2007 a member of the Sejm of the 4th and 5th term, in the years 2006-2007 Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Education. In the Sejm of the 4th term he was the chairman of the Committee for Communications with Poles Abroad, vice-chairman of the investigative committee for Orlen, and in the 5th term chairman of the Committee for Special Services. A graduate of the Faculty of History (1989-1994) and the Faculty of Law (1990-1995) of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. In 2006 he received the Silver Medal "For Merits for National Defence". Book publications include: Between Law and Politics, Poznań 2013, Chronicle of a Good Change, Warsaw 2017, In Defense of the Constitution, Warsaw 2018, Chronicle of a Vile Change, Warsaw 2019, Career of Prosecutor Żółcia, Warsaw 2020. Roman Giertych is the father of four children – Maria, Karolina, Alicja and Leon. His wife Barbara graduated in canon law from Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University, and secular law from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. In 2018, she defended her doctoral dissertation.
