On this Merino Expedition we visited Paulino Island, a famous fishing spot in Berisso that has an unbeatable spot on the jetty of the piers to try your luck with the richest variety of Rioplatense fish. The Santiago River channel divides two islands: Paulino Island, in Berisso, and Santiago Island, in Ensenada. We crossed the two islands with a very special boatman, Miguel, who has a dog for a sailor. Then, after walking several blocks along the piers, we started fishing with a local who is very used to fishing in that area: the Polish Rodrigo Rico. Catfish, bogas, silversides and some surprises were the fruit of the day's catch. And on the way back we learned about the activity of a very important institution for the nautical life of the area: Prefectura Monte Río Santiago. Prefect Paulo Javier Galarza told us about the tasks they carry out and took us to patrol the port area of La Plata, learning very particular stories. All this and much more in Expedición Merino.
