Hyundai Motor Company was early on and invested in electrification. When the Hyundai Kona appeared in December 2018, it was the first electric car with a range of over 40 miles that wasn't a Tesla and thus didn't cost like a Tesla. Now Hyundai offers an electric car for under SEK 400,000 (admittedly a discounted introductory offer and including environmental bonus) that has the same technology as a Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron GT. That is, an 800V system that makes it possible to quickly charge the car in a very short time. From 10-80 percent in just 18 minutes! But what is truly unique about the Ioniq 5 is its capacity for V2L, vehicle to load. The car can deliver up to 3.6 kW, which means that in theory it is possible to charge another electric car with the electric car! The Ioniq 5 is built on the new e-gmp platform, which is a purely electric car platform. Thereby, they have not had to take into account internal combustion engine equipment that takes up awkward space. The floor is completely flat and the wheelbase is huge. A whole three meters. This means very good interior space in a car that is as long as a Volvo XC60 but has significantly more room inside. The front seats have a special resting position, business class-style (requires level Advanced) which makes it possible to achieve a very relaxed driving position. The rear seat is electrically sliding (optional) and the backrest can be tilted a full 35 degrees. If there is no one sitting in the front passenger seat, it is possible to get a real limo feel in the back. Add to that niceties such as seat heating in two stages, sun blinds and climate exhaust in the B-pillar. It's premium stuff. The luggage space under the privacy cover is unfortunately almost ridiculously low. Large floor space, but there is not a single compartment or hook for small items and bags. There are plenty of USB ports but they are all USB-A, not -C which should be most reasonable in a car launching in 2021. However, there is a 230V socket under the middle seat in the back seat which has the same capacity as the external one. The Ioniq 5 is not so inspiring to drive and offers more electric glide than driving pleasure. It is sluggish in its reactions and steering feel is absent. However, it is possible to switch off both anti-spin and anti-spin. The door handles are a bit messy to use. Having to first press one end to fold out the other and in the same sweep change grip to be able to grab it and actually be able to open the door requires a bit of finesse. Add SEK 11,900 and they become automatic. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a car that comes with a clear appeal: Buy!
