The US military dropped 49 mock atomic bombs, filled with gunpowder instead of nuclear material, in Japan as training for the atomic bombs to be dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. On July 26, 1945, one was dropped on Tanabe, Higashisumiyoshi Ward, Osaka City, causing great damage. Shigeko Tatsuno was born in 1924. She was a teacher in the higher education department of a national elementary school. One day, a bomb struck the town of Tanabe, Higashisumiyoshi Ward, Osaka City. It was a mock atomic bomb made experimentally before dropping the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
