✅✅✅To summarize, the French Revolution (1789-1799) was the turbulent period in which the Ancien Régime collapsed in France, although some authors extend it until 1815, when Napoleon was finally defeated. After the calling of the Estates General in 1789 by Louis XVI, in order to collect more taxes, the Third Estate rebelled against royal power, calling itself the National Assembly, which soon became the National Constituent Assembly, in order to draw up a Constitution. The National Constituent Assembly overthrew the Ancien Régime, ending the estate society, establishing fiscal equality, eliminating feudal rights, drafting the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen and establishing a parliamentary monarchy. But on June 20, 1791, Louis XVI escaped, intending to end parliamentarism and return to absolute monarchy. What would happen then?
