We managed to get our hands on ALL generations of the Volkswagen Golf GTI, and they're about to go head-to-head in an epic drag race! We've split it into two heats - the 1, 2, 3 and 4 in the first heat, then we'll have a second race with the 5, 6, 7 and 8.5 to see how the Golf GTI has evolved over the years! It all starts with the first one. It's equipped with a 1.6 4-cylinder engine that produces 110hp and 140Nm of torque. That power is sent to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox, and the car weighs just 810kg. When it was new, it cost around £6,500. The line-up then goes up to the new 8.5 edition. It's powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo engine that produces 265bhp and 370Nm. That power is sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, and it weighs 1,391kg. When new, the car costs around £39,000. So the newer car will probably win, but can any of the older models surprise? There's only one way to find out... LET'S RACE!
