A new MZKT-742960 tank transporter was recently unveiled in Belarus. This transporter can haul loads with a maximum weight of 56,000 kg. It can carry main battle tanks, heavy armored vehicles, self-propelled artillery systems, construction equipment and other military cargo. This tank transporter can carry two BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles at the same time. The main engine has a new cab with a metal structure. Older models of the MZKT-7429 series were equipped with MAZ cabs. The new crew cab accommodates the driver and 6 passengers. So this tank transporter can carry the entire crew of a main battle tank or a self-propelled howitzer. The rear seats can be folded to make two sleeping places. The windshields are mounted vertically to minimize light reflection. The cab can be equipped with an optional bumper kit. The main engine is powered by a Deutz BF8M1015C turbocharged diesel engine developing 544 hp. It is mated to an Allison automatic transmission with 6 forward and 1 reverse gears. The car has an 8x8 configuration. The maximum speed on the road is limited to 70 km/h. The main engine is equipped with a central tire inflation system. This tank transporter has some degree of cross-country ability and can travel on rough terrain.
