About :

The Château de Villebois-Lavalette is located in the commune of Villebois-Lavalette, in the French department of Charente in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. A first motte and bailey castle was built in 959. During the Middle Ages, the castle evolved and became stone, surrounded by an enclosure bristling with seven towers. Several families have since succeeded one another. Today, the Château is open to the public and is listed as a Historic Monument.
