Viktoria without her hussar... The operetta "Victoria and her Hussar" by Paul Abraham, which was first performed in 1930, celebrated a highly acclaimed premiere at the Baden municipal theater. The directing couple Michaela Ronzoni and Volker Wahl staged this hit operetta with its many catchy melodies as a fast-paced revue with witty dance numbers. It offers everything that operetta audiences love: lively dance scenes, catchy melodies and colorful costumes and sets. The ping-pong dance and the appearance of the samurai wrestlers are really funny, for example. Christoph Wagner-Trenkwitz and his wife Cornelia Horak skilfully play the title roles - husband and wife - just like in real life. They have been a couple since 2008. She has to choose between him and her former love, the hussar captain Stefan Koltay (Clemens Kerschbaumer). And the outcome of this decision is completely unexpected, but fits in with today's times. With the chambermaid Riquette (Loes Cools) and Koltay's boy Janczi (Thomas Zisterer) as well as Count Ferry (Ricardo Frenzel Baudisch) and O Lia San (Verena Barth-Jurca), this operetta also features two exciting buffo couples. Artur Ortens, Dominik Kaschke and Paul Eilenberger can be seen in other roles. An inspiring evening from the entire ensemble, the orchestra and the ballet. The performance runs until January 31, 2025. Michael Stenzel
