Through this video lesson, you can learn how to make a Taboa Rug – a traditional craft from the traditional communities of Ubatuba/SP. Master Carmem Maria de Assunção, also known as Fiica, from Quilombo da Fazenda, is the one who teaches the production technique and shares her ancestral knowledge. This video lesson is part of a set of actions to value traditional crafts promoted by Instituto Capiá, through the Raízes que Tecem project, which aims to strengthen the artisanal production of the communities of Camburi, Quilombo da Fazenda, Quilombo do Sertão do Itamambuca and Quilombo da Caçandoca. Experiences of transmission of knowledge and artisanal skills were planned, in which the masters of this knowledge would share their knowledge in their own communities and in other communities involved in the project. Our actions are based on encouraging the sharing of knowledge, experience and intergenerational exchange. However, due to the social isolation we are subjected to due to Covid-19, we had to adapt our actions to the virtual model.
