The village of Verkhniy Nyud is located in a picturesque place in the Murmansk region - among beautiful hills, meadows and lakes full of fish. It would seem that life is here to stay. But for 20 years Verkhniy Nyud has been a dead village, no one lives here. Because in the late 90s, its residents were resettled to the neighboring city of Monchegorsk. With its mining and metallurgical plant and corresponding ecology. Then the authorities explained that maintaining Verkhniy Nyud - with its dying state farm and deteriorating demographics - is simply unprofitable. But many of the former residents of the village hope for a renaissance of Verkhniy Nyud. After all, geologists have found deposits of valuable metals - platinum and palladium - in its vicinity.
