They had a hard time in the big cities of Spain. And they decided to migrate to the villages. There they found rents at incredible prices: houses with swimming pools for 250 euros a month, neighbors who give them fruit and vegetables and job opportunities where they did not expect to find them. In this new program of “Venezuelans around the world”, I traveled to several towns in Spain to discover how people live in the rural world and I was surprised by what I found. Venezuelans who found in the rural world and in emptied Spain a much more comfortable and easier life than in the big cities. My first stop: Corvera, Murcia, in the south of Spain. Near the airport, dozens of Venezuelans arrived en masse to a housing estate very close to the Amazon warehouse, where dozens of Venezuelans and immigrants work in Murcia. A housing estate (Corvera Golf) that had been abandoned since the housing crisis re-emerged with the arrival of the migration, which now enjoys very cheap rents. There I met Francis, who explained to me how, living in a village, he was able to save up and buy a house with just 27,000 euros, which he will now rent to tourists. I also visited Fermoselle, in the province of Zamora, a town on the border with Portugal. There I learned about the work of the Talento 58 foundation, which seeks work for Venezuelans in the villages of Spain. A group works there in a small supermarket. I was surprised by the stories of Grecia and Osman, two Venezuelans who had become homeless in Madrid and who now live comfortably with housing and work, in a quiet town with a good quality of life. I also visited Manzanares in the province of Ciudad Real. More than 50 Venezuelans live there. They are delighted with the prices, the security, the tranquility and the good offer of supermarkets, shops, activities for seniors and even monologues and plays. And finally, I travelled to Ciruelos del Pinar, less than two hours from Madrid. A Venezuelan couple with a small child moved to this small village thanks to another foundation, which seeks to repopulate Spanish villages. There they work in a bar and pay just 35 euros a month for rent. A great opportunity that is impossible to get in big cities like Madrid or Barcelona. Enjoy this new program with useful information for those who want to migrate to Spain or for those who already feel suffocated in big cities: in the villages of Spain you can get great opportunities and skilled and hard-working migration is necessary and welcome.
