The Despeñaperros pass is located in the north of the province of Jaén, very close to the border between Andalusia and Castilla la Mancha. Important for hundreds of years due to its strategic location, it has witnessed not only the passage of merchants and travellers, but also important wars such as the Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa or the Battle of Bailén, a little further south. Today, the A-4 motorway and the 400 railway line: Alcázar de San Juan - Cádiz (formerly Madrid - Cádiz) run through the Despeñaperros Natural Park, which is also an important crossing point for travellers and goods between Andalusia and the rest of the peninsula. During our visit, we were able to enjoy not only the wonderful landscapes and the passing of trains, but also some of the fauna present there, highlighting among others the Griffon Vulture and the Golden Eagle, fascinating animals that can be observed in their natural habitat from the old national road. In this video we can see different shots taken in Santa Elena, the Despeñaperros gorge, Vilches and Almuradiel. As far as train traffic is concerned, we include the trains that cover the Madrid - Jaén, Madrid - Almería and Barcelona - Seville routes. Regarding freight, we can see several Butane trains running between Huelva and Vicálvaro (Madrid), and container trains that cover the routes: Bilbao - Seville, Jerez - Madrid, Seville - Constantí (Tarragona) and Algeciras - Azuqueca de Henares. These are just some of the many freight trains that run on the line, and whose number of runs we hope will increase in the coming years. Finally, I would like to thank all those who have contributed to making this video by providing information and making the making of these videos a little easier, as well as sending a warm greeting again to the driver of the last train ????. Greetings and Happy New Year! #trains #renfe #Despeñaperros
