ValGrande National Park – Lower and Upper Alpe Vall In practice, it is one of the most solitary mountain pastures in the entire Pogallo Valley! It is divided into two nuclei: Alpe Vall Snferiore (at 1,322 m above sea level) and Superiore (at 1,460 m above sea level). Both already present on the Rabbini Map of 1860 and climbed until 1921 by Matteo Crivelli di Cicogna. The lower nucleus is made up of just 1 building intended for the sole shelter of livestock, while the upper one is made up of 2 buildings and a small structure intended to keep the cheese fresh thanks to a flow of fresh air coming from a crack in the rock!! It is incredible "how" and "where" people once climbed to find a handkerchief of grass to feed the animals and then produce cheese!! But not only that! In the area, around the end of 1800, a gold mine was opened (about 5 meters of tunnel), which was almost immediately abandoned as it was not at all profitable.
