In this video, Argentine physicist José Edelstein invites us to take a journey through the history of modern physics, exploring the most important discoveries that have transformed our understanding of the universe. With an optimistic and hopeful message about the future of human beings, Edelstein guides us through great scientific milestones and personal experiences with emblematic figures in science, such as Stephen Hawking and Peter Higgs, showing how curiosity, ingenuity and collaboration have been the driving forces behind discoveries that have changed our view of the universe. José Edelstein is an Argentine physicist who has dedicated his scientific and academic career to theoretical physics, with special emphasis on gravitation, supergravity theories and string theory. Graduated in Physics from the Balseiro Institute (Argentina), his doctoral thesis under the direction of Fidel Schaposnik focused on aspects of supergravity and quantum field theories, which would lay the foundations for his later development in internationally prestigious institutions and scientific publications that have contributed to knowledge in these fields. Among other aspects, Eldestein has studied the relationship between mathematical structures, geometry and theoretical physics, as a starting point for describing the universe. He currently works as a professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain) and at the Galician Institute of High Energy Physics (IGFAE). His humanistic and social commitment has led him to become one of the leading exponents of scientific dissemination, advocating the democratization of knowledge so that science is not a matter for intellectual elites, but accessible and understandable to all, seeking the links between exact sciences and humanities, as reflected in his work 'Antimatter, magic and poetry' and in the humanistic memories he shares of his friendship with Stephen Hawking. In 2019, Edelstein received the Prismas Award for the best popular science book for his book 'Einstein for the Perplexed', co-authored with Chilean physicist Andrés Gomberoff, which adds to the "Raíces" awards from the Ministry of Science and Technology of Argentina in 2018, several awards for Scientific Dissemination from the Spanish Center for Particle Physics, Astroparticles and Nuclear (CPAN), the Scientific Communication Award from the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) in 2012 and various honorable mentions in the International Science in Action Competition. #Let'sLearnTogether
