In an interview conducted by Maria Andréa Loyola (IMS/UERJ) at the College de France, sociologist Pierre Bourdieu discusses criticisms of the neoliberal system and the globalization it leads to, contributing to a homogenization of thought. He also talks about the role of the media in the depoliticization of society, and mentions the role of the school system in ratifying privileges. Furthermore, he unravels the issue of male domination, more specifically the symbolic violence placed on women. He ends by affirming the need to defend a realistic utopianism that, through new forms of social struggle, results in an improvement of our world. It also includes reports from professors Moacir Palmeiras (National Museum/UFRJ) and Sérgio Miceli (USP), important followers of Bourdieu's thought in Brazil.
