What I explain in my videos can integrate but not replace the theory and driving lessons that you can take in a driving school. ✔️ SUBSCRIBE TO THE CHANNEL --- / guidaoggiandreabrusadin ✔️ INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/guidare_ogg... ✔️ FACEBOOK: / guidaoggi ???? TIPS FOR THE DRIVING EXAM. Downgrading is certainly one of the most challenging things to learn to do while driving a car. In this video I will explain the simplest and most correct way to do it. Everything will start by slowing down the vehicle, which will be done by lightly pressing the brake pedal. To help them understand what it means to press the brake pedal LIGHTLY, I always tell the kids to imagine not touching the brake pedal at all, and that means braking zero; and then, at the opposite extreme, to step on it with all the force possible, and that means braking ten. The correct braking obviously must not be zero or ten, but must be somewhere between one and two, no more. When pressing the brake pedal, you should only feel that the car is starting to slow down, you should not feel a real braking. Once you have reached the right pressure on the pedal, you will keep your right foot there and with your left foot you will firmly press the clutch all the way down; once you have done this, you will take your hand off the steering wheel and change gear, and in this case I went from fourth to third, without yanking the gear lever but accompanying it by making the correct movement. I have already explained in another video how to shift gears, if you haven't seen it I'll leave the link below in the description but you can also see it by clicking on the "I" here at the top right. Once the gear is engaged, always with the right foot on the brake pedal, we will gradually lift the clutch again, and I also made a video on the use of the clutch that you can see by clicking on the link below in the description or always on the "i" here at the top right. If we need to shift down another gear, like now that I'm going from third to second, we will always do it by keeping the right foot on the brake pedal and therefore continuing to slow down. Only after having finished shifting down and reached the right speed, for example to make a turn, will we release the brake pedal. One thing must be made clear: when, after having shifted from a larger gear to a smaller one, the clutch is lifted again, the braking action of the engine, called engine braking, intervenes. By releasing the clutch gradually, the engine braking will also intervene gradually and therefore smoothly. But if you release the clutch pedal too quickly, the engine brake will intervene abruptly, causing the vehicle to jolt. When you are just starting out, it is not easy to even understand WHEN to shift down, and that is why during your first drives the instructor will ALWAYS tell you when to do it. Then little by little you will learn to understand by yourself when it is time to shift down; it will no longer be the instructor's voice telling you, but that of the engine, which you will have learned to listen to in the meantime. The best advice I can give to become familiar with shifting down and therefore setting them up in the most correct way is to start doing everything early, therefore starting to brake well in advance of the curve, intersection or turn you are about to make. This is to have the time and the way to concentrate on everything you have to do, that is, first of all on HOW MUCH to press the brake pedal; then we will think about pressing the clutch and changing gear CORRECTLY; then comes the delicate phase of lifting the clutch pedal, to be done as already said in a GRADUAL manner. And all this while always keeping your right foot on the brake pedal. Starting to do everything early is the best way to do everything... well. I hope that these simple tips can help you better understand what you need to do to downshift correctly. Then with experience everything will become simple and automatic, and you will also learn some tricks to do downshifts even better, but we will talk about this perhaps in another video. This one ends here. See you soon with the next one, always here on the Guidare Oggi con Andrea channel. #downshift #clutch #gearchanges
