Jean-Luc Mélenchon returns to the geopolitical situation in the Asia-Pacific region on October 30, 2024. He first denounces the genocide in Gaza and the invasion of Lebanon. He accuses the international community, and in particular the Western powers, of silent complicity in the face of this violence. According to him, this situation demonstrates the hypocrisy and inconsistency of the West, which advocates respect for human rights and international law while tolerating repressive actions against the Palestinian and Lebanese populations. Jean-Luc Mélenchon then goes on to criticize the American presence in the Asia-Pacific, which he describes as the result of a growing confrontation with China, perceived by the United States as a major economic and technological rival. He states that the main issue is Taiwan, considered by the United States as a means of strategic pressure. He highlights the rapid development of China, which he describes as a leading economic and technological power. He notes that while the United States maintains its dominant position thanks to the global role of the dollar and the financial sector, it is about to be surpassed by China in many areas, particularly in industrial and technological production. He is highly critical of the evolution of the European Union, which he accuses of moving from a “Europe of peace” to a “Europe of war”. He accuses the Union of following in the footsteps of the United States by adopting a militaristic posture and considering supranational defence structures. He cites the recent adoption of a motion in the European Parliament that Beijing sees as provocative because of its implicit support for Taiwanese representation. Jean-Luc Mélenchon observes that many countries are moving away from Western influence to form alternative alliances, such as the BRICS, which attract other nations seeking more balanced relations. According to him, this group, although having peaceful objectives, is solidifying itself in opposition to Western hegemony, thus laying the foundations for a multipolar world order. He concludes by calling for a peaceful and non-aligned posture. He warns that European alignment with the United States could lead to direct involvement in future conflicts, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. *FOLLOW ME ON* Twitch : / jlmelenchon Tiktok : / jlmelenchon Facebook : / jlmelenchon Twitter : / jlmelenchon Instagram : / jlmelenchon Threads : https://www.threads.net/@jlmelenchon Whatsapp : https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VaF8...
