At our first stop in the Czech Republic, we explore a porcelain factory from the early 19th century. I have to correct myself slightly, because in the first 20 years, earthenware was produced here, as well as ceramics, just cheaper but of significantly lower quality. Production was gradually switched to porcelain, because the business with the white gold was flourishing and at its peak, the factory employed 800 people. Sales were made worldwide, whether in North and South America or Africa, but after several economic crises, the Second World War, the nationalization of the company and a later privatization, the factory ran into financial difficulties in the 2000s from which it was unable to recover. The factory was closed just a few years ago, and since then the halls have been abandoned and, especially recently, have increasingly been frequented by homeless people and drug addicts, who are gradually destroying the place. We are excited to see what awaits us in the huge halls of the former porcelain factory!
