Actor Tomio Umezawa (73) and singer Naoko Ken (71) participated in a joint press conference for the "Umezawa Tomio Theatre Company Tomio Umezawa Naoko Ken Special Performance" on October 1st. The performance is divided into three parts. The first part, "Big Laughs! Tomio and Naoko's Flower Battle, Women's Courage," is a popular work by the Umezawa Theatre Company, and is a human comedy with laughs and tears, depicting the clash of geisha pride and the sad feelings of women. Umezawa plays Kikuji's sister geisha, Akuyoshi, and Ken plays Kikuji, a popular geisha in Yanagibashi. The second part, "Kayo On Stage," features hit songs such as Ken's "Kamome wa Kamome" and "Summer wo Akiramete," and Umezawa's "Yume Shibai," while the third part, "Hana no Buyo Emaki," features a dance performance by Umezawa's gorgeous female impersonators. This year marks the 31st performance by the Umezawa Theatre Company since 1986, and Umezawa has the record for the most leading roles at the Meijiza Theater.
