In this video we will get acquainted with one of the most ambitious projects of modern aircraft engine building. Rolls-Royce Ultrafan is a project to create a family of new generation aircraft engines, initiated by the British company Rolls-Royce in the mid-2010s. The project is based on the currently implemented Advance program, which involves modernizing the current Rolls-Royce Trent family with the introduction of a number of new solutions: 3D printing of parts, ceramic matrix composites and a combustion chamber operating with a lean fuel mixture. Ultrafan, being a continuation of the Advance program, involves further development of technologies: the introduction of a gearbox mechanism, the creation of a new composite fan, as well as the rebuilding of the engine layout to bring it to the optimal level. If implemented, Rolls-Royce Ultrafan will become the basis for a whole family of new engines that will be able to replace most of the current line of power plants for airliners of various types: from small medium-range models to the largest long-range ones.
