Types of agriculture correspond to different ways of agricultural production, which are adapted to the characteristics of the environment in which they are carried out. These characteristics may be the vegetation formation that constitutes the location, the climatic conditions of the environment, the relief, the composition of the soil and the existing production demand. Agricultural systems Agricultural activities that correspond to all the planting phases (preparation, correction, fertilization, planting, harvesting and sale) are divided into two types, generally according to the size of the area and the productivity achieved: 1. Intensive agriculture: corresponds to agricultural practice with high levels of productivity and invested capital. It relies on skilled labor, a high level of mechanization and technology. There is crop rotation and intense use of fertilizers and inputs, which contribute to increased production. The areas designated for this production are expensive. The seeds used in planting undergo rigorous selection. Soil depletion is common due to their permanent use. Production is destined for export. 2. Extensive agriculture: this type of agricultural system does not have a lot of invested capital. There is no use of advanced technologies, so the workforce is rudimentary and poorly qualified. Since there is not much land exploitation, productivity is low. The use of fertilizers is not common. There is also no soil correction, relying only on the soil's natural fertility. Human labor prevails over mechanization. Production is geared towards the domestic market. What types of agriculture exist? Professor Oswaldo explains the types and characteristics.
