👉 https://cdtlink.ch/ravelli-locarno 👈 87-year-old Livia speaks, owner of the public establishment that has borne her family's name for over a century in Largo Zorzi in Locarno, which will close for a period for renovation: «I thank the loyal customers, it is a fortune and a pleasure to have worked here» ☕💪🦁💙 In Locarno there is a place that boasts a century and more of history. It is the Ravelli, opened by the pastry chef Giovannino in 1913. «Home» of personalities and intellectuals of the past and present, in recent decades it has been managed by Livia. Who today, at the age of 87, passes on the challenge to her grandson, Giorgio. We met her on her last day of work, before the inevitable prolonged closure of the business for renovation. «Do you see these furnishings? They are original, by Giò Ponti for Cassina. They have survived three floods and I hope that my successor will also want to keep the natural leather elements", says the "Lady of the Locarno arcades", as Livia Ravelli is nicknamed, greeting a family of regular guests, referring to her nephew - Giorgio - who will transform the place into a restaurant. Patrizia di Intragna (born Dillena), is a point of reference in the city, but from tomorrow - and only when it reopens - she will only be a customer: "Ah, but I will keep my office up here", she explains, pointing upwards, in the direction of the staircase designed by the architect Paolo Mariotta and the artist Remo Rossi. ☕💪🦁💙 "I have to take care of the administration of my buildings. I'm not interested in travelling anymore, but I will gladly play golf here in Ascona. I will remain a good visitor, but always paying, out of respect for the work of the new owner". Our interlocutor, with a firm and decisive handshake, rewinds the tape of time: «I have been taking care of this characteristic place for 62 years and, even after the death of my husband ten years ago, I continued to keep it open. I married Ademaro in 1962, also a confectioner, son of Giovannino». «At the time, I worked in a children's goods boutique and then moved about twenty meters away, after the wedding, to the confectionery counter. We had an exclusive clientele who ordered our creations from all over the world. It was a wonderful job, even if you had to be careful not to fall into temptation in eating all those sweet treats», she exclaims with a smile. In 1980, the family decided to concentrate their efforts on the public business (whose importance was later recognized by Heimatschutz), saying goodbye to confectionery production. Among the tables there is however «a crossroads of ideas and personalities», as we read in an article that recently appeared in the weekly «Azione»: artists, celebrities, intellectuals - even of international caliber - are certainly not lacking in the roll call. ☕💪🦁💙 «From the former magistrate Carla Del Ponte, who still willingly passes by here, to the Baroness von Thyssen, from the model Yvonne Blanche Labrousse with her husband Aga Khan III, passing through Paul Klee, Jean Arp, Luigi Snozzi, Italo Valenti and many others», lists Livia. Without forgetting the influence on (and of) the Locarno Film Festival. «If the event has become as we know it, the credit is also a little bit ours. At the time, it was not yet in Piazza Grande. Raimondo Rezzonico was skeptical about its move, proposed right here, discussing it with Livio Vacchini and Luciano Giudici. The architect had created a giant screen for a test screening. The future “patron” of the event (ten years later, since 1981) changed his mind, once he saw the effect on the public. From that moment, the kermesse has distinguished itself even more, becoming an event of exceptional importance». ☕💪🦁💙 #locarno #history #cdtonline #ravelli #caffè #coffetable #coffee #tessin #schweiz #corrieredelticino #storico #history #historyfacts @locarnocity @cittadilocarno3529 @locarnofilmfest @museicivicilocarno2253 @liceodilocarno6601 @sinistraunita-locarno @locarnesetv @seidellocarnesese5585 @verdilocarnese9818 @locarnese5598 @Asconalocarnotourism @ticinoturismo @MySwitzerland @SvizzeraTurismoItalia Production: Jona «pixel» Mantovan [email protected] ______________________________ Our website: http://www.cdt.ch/ Follow us on Instagram: / corrieredelticino Follow us on Facebook: / corrieredelticino Follow us on Twitter: / cdt_online
