Donald Trump's return to power in the United States brings with it a number of uncertainties in international conflicts. While the situation in Ukraine now seems hopeless and Russia continues to advance on the Eastern Front, the Trump administration will be called upon to play a key role in the question of whether or not the United States will continue to support Kyiv and whether negotiations will be opened. In the Middle East, Donald Trump's unconditional support for Israel raises questions about the continued escalation of violence between Iran and the Hebrew state, while the prospects for a political settlement of the Palestinian question seem to be fading further away. Finally, the Trump administration's position with regard to China will also be decisive. It remains to be seen whether the president-elect will take the path of confrontation, particularly over the sovereignty of Taiwan, or of a mutually satisfactory agreement between Beijing and Washington. What will Donald Trump's policy be towards Ukraine? Would Russia agree to negotiate? Will the escalation continue in the Middle East? Can we still believe in the possibility of a Palestinian state?
