Filmmaker Wim Bom from Haamstede regularly films the drowned Schouwen after the night of the disaster. At the Schelphoek we see the hole that has appeared in the sea wall and when he later shoots new footage here we see the consequences of the daily workings of the ebb and flow: the hole has become hundreds of metres wider and deep gullies have formed in the original fields. Wim Bom manages to capture a minor disaster when he sees the emergency dike that held back the water around Haamstede break on Easter Sunday. Attention is also paid to the evacuation of the reluctant inhabitants of Zierikzee. After their negative experiences in the Second World War, they refuse to leave their island for the sake of safety. We see how Prince Bernhard throws his weight around to persuade the people to evacuate their city.
