Tokyo Racecourse is a racecourse of the Japan Central Horse Racing Association located in Fuchu, Tokyo. It is also known as Fuchu Racecourse due to its location. Horse racing fans simply refer to it as "Fuchu". The turf course is the largest of the four main racecourses (Tokyo, Nakayama, Kyoto, and Hanshin), and has the second longest straight line among all 10 JRA racecourses after Niigata Racecourse. The grass is selected to suit the climate of each racecourse, and racecourses other than Hokkaido use "wild grass", a traditional Japanese grass, as the base. Wild grass goes dormant in winter and its leaves die, so it is covered with "Italian ryegrass", a Western grass that is more resistant to the cold than wild grass, to keep it green all year round. The final straight line of 525.9 m (dirt course) is the longest of all Japanese racecourses in terms of both the distance of one lap and the straight line distance to the finish line. The undulating structure is almost the same as the turf course, but the slope of the final straight section has a height difference of 2.4 m, which is larger than that of the turf course. The surface is covered with cushion sand, 9cm thick and evenly spread. This serves to cushion the impact when the racehorses land while running. The final straight is 501.6m long. [Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe] There's no doubt that this is "the most prestigious race in Europe, both in name and in reality!" The Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe is a G1 race over 2,400m of turf that takes place at ParisLongchamp Racecourse in France. In principle, it is held every year on the first Sunday in October. (This year, the race is scheduled to start at 11:20pm Japan time on Sunday, October 6, 2024.) Winning this race, which is the most prestigious race in Europe, both in name and in reality, is a long-cherished wish of the Japanese horse racing world.
