Edenilde believes deeply in the power of friendship. And it was a true friendship that gave her the best gift of her life, which she will always carry in her heart. Born in a small town called Curaçá, in Bahia, Edenilde was adopted when she was five months old, but her biological mother did not tell her adoptive mother that the baby had one leg shorter than the other. When she started walking, her mother and grandfather noticed that she was limping a lot, but unfortunately they didn't have much to do due to lack of financial resources. Edenilde's physical disability did not hinder her childhood (much). In 1973, Edenilde, then 25 years old, emigrated to São Paulo, like many people from the Northeast, in search of a better life. Her aunt, who took her in, immediately advised her to see an orthopedist to have her leg looked at. At the hospital, the young woman discovered that her pelvis had been broken shortly after she was born and, therefore, she would never be able to have a child. At that moment, Edenilde's world fell apart. But like a good northeastern woman, she gets back on her feet with all her strength and continues her simple and honest life. Over time, Edenilde meets and makes many friends in São Paulo. Years after the news that would change her life, a couple about to get married, in particular, becomes very close to her. The woman from Bahia becomes very close to the bride and they become best friends. One day, close to the wedding, Edenilde tells her friend that she cannot have children, but that she really hopes she will have children soon and gives her a gift: a t-shirt with a baby on it. She asks her friend to wear the t-shirt only when she finds out she is pregnant. This would be the sign to tell Edenilde that a baby would be coming soon. In early 1994, this friend finds out she is pregnant and goes to tell Edenilde wearing the t-shirt she had received. It was a party! In May of the same year, Edenilde had a birthday and her friend said she forgot to buy her present, but that she was going to have an ultrasound and invited her to go with her, so that they could later buy her birthday present. Little did Edenilde know that that day she would receive the best present of her life! In collusion with the doctor who was treating her, her friend invited Edê to participate in the ultrasound and hear, for the first time in her life, a baby's heart beating inside her mother's belly. From that moment on, Edenilde created bonds not only with her parents, but also with the baby, who after 25 years, invited her to tell this story here on ter.a.pia. Edenilde's best friend is Maria Cristina Crosta, mother of Alexandre Simone (one of the creators of ter.a.pia). His heart had been beating for 25 years as a gift for Edê, who still gets emotional when she remembers that episode. By the way, Cris has also told a great story of friendship here on the channel: • She was the one who adopted me Stories of... - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ????
