When you cross the bridge to the old town, you begin a journey through the exciting history of the 2,000-year-old town of Trogir. If you like the video, we would be very happy if you like it, subscribe for free (so you don't miss any new videos) and, of course, leave a comment. This is a nice appreciation ???? for our work. Thank you! ???? The pearl of Dalmatia owes the special charm and flair that the town exudes to its Greek founders, among others. The Romans also had an influence and separated the old town centre from the mainland with a canal. Narrow, romantic alleys lead to the historic buildings and squares. UNESCO declared the entire old town complex a World Heritage Site in 1997. Life takes place outside, in the winding maze of alleys with beautiful courtyards and small shops, cafes and restaurants. The construction of the town's most important building, the Cathedral of St. Lawrence, took over 400 years. It is an impressive example of Romanesque-Gothic and Renaissance architecture in Trogir. Built in the 13th century, it impresses with its artistic façade with reliefs and sculptures. The medieval west portal impresses with biblical motifs. The striking sights, the 15th century bell tower, which is the only one preserved from the pilgrimage map of St. Sebastian, and the city loggia, are located directly opposite the cathedral. The attractive city beaches, which are only a few minutes away from the old town, have pebble beaches that slope gently into the sea. The bays of the offshore island of Ciovo also offer wonderful bathing opportunities. We pass the tower of St. Mark, which is located in the northwest part of the old town. The circular tower from the 15th century was built by the Venetian Republic and served as protection against cannon fire during attacks by the Turks. The Gloriette, a classicist round pavilion from the 19th century, is one of the few monuments from the time of the French occupation in Dalmatia. At the southern end of the beautiful waterfront promenade is the Kamerlengo fortress. The complex dates back to the 15th century and was built during the time of the Venetian Republic. In addition to defending the city, it was also intended as a refuge for the Venetian heads of state. A visit to the Kamerlengo fortress is highly recommended, as the view over Trogir is simply unique. Trogir's harbor promenade - with a view of numerous yachts - is simply overwhelming. Numerous palm trees provide shade and invite you to take a relaxed stroll both during the day and in the evening. ????
