Six years after the death of Osvaldo Bayer, Canal Abierto, FM La Tribu and the audiovisual collective Vaca Bonsai launch “Un trago en el tugurio” (A Drink in the Slum), a tribute to the life, work and struggles of the prolific historian, researcher and journalist. As expressed by FM La Tribu: “We want to bring him to the present so that every December also sounds like him, his work, and returns every year to guide the meaning of our work to come.” The series consists of three blocks hosted by Bruno Napoli, researcher in history, and Ariel Pennisi, essayist and writer, along with various guests. The chapters cover his youth, “La Patagonia Rebelde” (Rebel Patagonia) and his fight in Esquel against the landowner domination. In the first installment, “Young Bayer and libertarian socialism,” both talk with Esteban Bayer, journalist, writer and son of Osvaldo. In the second, “Patagonia: against voluntary servitude”, the guest is Néstor Dafinoti, a surgeon and grandson of Albino Arguelles, a Patagonian leader shot in 1921. And in the last block, titled “La Chispa, Santiago Maldonado and after”, the talk is with Sergio Maldonado, Santiago’s brother and a human rights activist.
