Surah An-Nur was revealed in Medina. Based on the reasons for the revelation of the verses, it is understood that the surah was revealed gradually throughout the Medina period. It has 64 verses. It takes its name from the fact that “Allah is the light of the heavens and the earth”, which is explained in a metaphor in the 35th verse. It is the 24th surah according to the order of the Mushaf and the 102nd surah according to the order of revelation.
