A journey on the Danube with a special atmosphere, which presents the isolated world of river freighters. In the course of the two-part film, we travel the entire length of the Danube, from Regensburg to the sea port of Konstanz, while getting to know the specifics of the floating workplace, the industrial and natural environment of the river that crosses Central Europe and the Balkans. East and west, chaos and order, calm and haste, passing and life meet along the waterway. In the second part, showing the lower section of the Danube crossing the Balkans, we follow the journey of the largest Hungarian self-propelled ship, the 172-meter-long Melanie, which is operated by a crew of 5. The main character and narrator of the film is Indian, the ship's cook, who is greatly affected by the time spent away from his family. The rhythm of the river, the floating landscapes and the story of the Danube nomads are accompanied along the way by the atmospheric music of Lőrinc Barabás, a trumpet player and composer.
