A journey on the Danube with a special atmosphere, which presents the isolated world of river freighters. In the course of the two-part film, we travel the entire length of the Danube, from Regensburg to the sea port of Konstanz, while getting to know the specifics of the floating workplace, the industrial and natural environment of the river that crosses Central Europe and the Balkans. Along the waterway, east and west meet, chaos and order, calm and haste, passing and life. In the first part showing the upper section of the Danube, we follow the 80-meter-long self-propelled ship Sofia Maria, which is only operated by a two-person crew. Imre and Laci are a regular couple, they spend 350 days a year on board, they don't talk much, they almost read each other's thoughts. The rhythm of the river, the floating landscapes and the story of the Danube nomads are accompanied along the way by the atmospheric music of Lőrinc Barabás, a trumpet player and composer.
