On May 5, 2018, the European Tram Drivers' Championship took place in Stuttgart. There was a big celebration to mark the 150th anniversary of the Stuttgart tram. Each team consisted of a male and female driver and usually a supervisor. They come from all over Europe. All participants drive public transport rail vehicles, i.e. trams or light rail vehicles, for a living. The principle of rail vehicles is basically the same or similar everywhere. But in a competition, every detail counts for the professionals. So it's a matter of adapting in a short space of time from the driving dynamics and operation of the usual vehicle type to an unfamiliar rail vehicle. The Stuttgart light rail vehicle is unfamiliar to most guests. A competition of a special kind: The six tasks involve moving the ton-heavy train with the utmost precision.
