There is a counterpressure brake for steep-slope operation with steam locomotives. With the dynamic brake, the locomotive is braked by compression in the drive cylinders. This prevents wear and overheating of the wheel tires and brake pads. 95 1027 also has a counterpressure brake. Its function and operation are explained to train drivers during several trips on the Rübelandbahn. We were allowed to look over the train drivers' shoulders. Enjoy watching.
