Railway station on the bottom of a barrier lake? Only pushed trains are permitted! On May 3, 1905, Saxony's steepest standard gauge railway line between Eibenstock lower station (513 m) in the valley of the Zwickauer Mulde (Vogtland) and Eibenstock upper station (641 m) was opened. The steepest gradient was 1:20 or 50 ‰. Due to the decision to build a dam, railway operations had to be stopped on October 5, 1975. Dietmar captured it on film in May 1974. The video should clearly show which part of the railway facilities sank in the flooded reservoir. The trains always had to be pushed, steam locomotives with the smokebox first. The locomotives used were primarily of the Saxon XI HT type, DRG series 94.20-21. The video shows the steep-slope locomotive 94 2105-8 from Aue depot. The sound in the video only comes partially from this locomotive. The sound of the Prussian sister locomotives 94.5-17 had to be used mainly on other steep routes (dampfsound.de). Correction: Dietmar apparently took the photo of 94 2105 at minute 0:39 at the upper station. Here is another photo series from the same place and author https://www.drehscheibe-online.de/for...
