I recorded a video to show how to paint a traditional Bauernmalerei bird with gouache on natural pine wood. I didn't do any special preparation on the wood wood, I just sanded it with 220-grit sandpaper and painted it. I used gouache paint, my favorite paint! After painting, you need to finish it off by first applying a matte spray varnish to set the paint well, and then using colorless paste wax to protect it. With just a few colors and brushes, you can also paint a bird like this in no time!
