Gaínza (Gaintza in Basque and officially Gaintza) is a council of the Foral Community of Navarre belonging to the municipality of Araiz. It is located in the Merindad de Pamplona, in the Norte de Aralar region, and 47.5 km from the capital of the community, Pamplona. Its population in 2014 was 66 inhabitants (INE), its area is 5.13 km² and its population density is 12.87 inhab/km².1 Physical geography Location The town of Gaínza is located in the southwest part of the municipality of Araiz at an altitude of 500 m asl. Its municipal area has an area of 5.13 km² and borders to the north with the council of Uztegui; to the east with that of Inza and the municipality of Betelu; to the south with the Sierra de Aralar and to the west with the Community of Amézqueta and Ordicia in the province of Guipúzcoa and the autonomous community of the Basque Country.
