Between Mont Blanc and the Côte d'Azur. The second part follows people who are shaping the future of their mountains with great enthusiasm: an organic farmer who cultivates an exotic spice, a ranger who strengthens the resilience of ibexes, and young researchers who enrich the underwater life in reservoirs with floating islands. The second part of the documentary shows the varied landscapes in the southernmost part of the French Alps between the high mountains of the Ecrins massif and the Côte d'Azur. From the Barre des Ecrins, the southernmost four-thousand-meter peak in the Alps, through the sun-drenched Queyras, past the Lac de Serre-Ponçon, the largest freshwater reservoir in France, the film passes the Maritime Alps with the species-rich Mercantour National Park and finally reaches the legendary Côte d'Azur, where the French Alpine arc drops steeply into the Mediterranean. The documentary follows people who live in the French Alps and who are helping to shape the future of their mountains with new ideas and a lot of enthusiasm. South of the old fortified town of Briançon, a mountain guide climbs the steep walls of the Ecrin massif. In the Queyras, where the sun shines 300 days a year, the employees of a remote observatory prepare for the summer season. At the Serre-Ponçon reservoir, young scientists are enriching underwater life with floating islands. In the Mercantour National Park, a ranger is strengthening the resilience of ibexes and in the southern Maritime Alps, an organic farmer is cultivating an exotic spice.
