Today we offer you a ride on a very famous tourist train: the Mastrou, also known as the Train de l'Ardèche...or even Chemin de Fer du Vivarais (CFV) This tourist railway is on metre gauge. The circuit measures about thirty kilometres between the stations of Tournon St-Jean and Lamastre. Since 2013, the town of St-Jean-De-Muzols has served as the departure station on a line 100% dedicated to the CFV. This terminus station houses the ticket office and the rolling stock. Historically, the choice of metre gauge for departmental railways has also been associated with Mallet 030+030 type locomotives. There are hangars and a turntable to return the machines, as in Lamastre, on the other side of the line. A shop completes the facilities, there is a refreshment bar, as well as a very nice little museum. The museum located in an annex of the station is worth the detour, its entrance is included in the price of the ticket. You will see a whole collection of old objects, very well-made descriptive panels, a scale 1 model circuit and especially a draisine as well as the 1005 car, impeccably restored, symbol of the luxury that one could enjoy in first class, even on a departmental railway line. About the traffic.
