(FH) Forest and Forestry, Wingenbach Hunting Association, Farmer Field report Wingenbach: The switch to managed hunting Wingenbach (Bergisches Land) Drought and beetle calamities fundamentally changed the forestry situation in the communal hunting districts. After thorough discussion, it was obvious to the Wingenbach Hunting Association that new paths had to be taken. Many hunting associations were initially unaware of the option of self-management. The first step was taken for the 2023/2024 hunting year and initially switched to self-management with one hunting district. However, this was accompanied by massive headwinds from the regional and national hunting community. After the first hunting year, the storm has subsided. Changes in the area are visible, and the economic result for the hunting associations is positive. The decision to transfer the second hunting district to self-management from the 2025/26 hunting year was made unanimously in the hunting association. A first assessment of ecology, economy and community.
