And this term referred precisely to representatives from other lands. Human blood, like most animals, is red due to the fact that hemoglobin - a respiratory pigment - contains iron ions. But there are organisms that have hemocyanin, a copper-based hemoglobin, instead of hemoglobin. The blood of such creatures is blue, these are some insects and mollusks.
