After more than a hundred years we returned with the military mountaineering instructors of the Alpine Training Center of Aosta, to repeat an ascent made during the First World War on the Tofana di Rozes near Cortina d'Ampezzo. The Aosta Valley guide Joseph Gaspard and Count Ugo Ottolenghi of Vallepiana were engaged here for 16 days in an undertaking at the limit of human possibilities.
