※ This video is part of the <World Theme Travel - Houses in the Scenery Germany/Austria Part 3: Yards Embracing the Alps> broadcast on June 12, 2024. Mountain ranges reaching 3,000m in altitude, sparkling lakes surrounding the mountains, steep valley cliffs. Are there houses that embrace the Alps in their yards? A journey to find houses with yards that are a class apart! We start in Graz, Austria, a city that used to be a vacation spot for the Habsburgs. We climb up the Schloßberg hill and admire the harmony of the old town with its red-tiled roofs and the modern buildings built here and there. The Graz Clock Tower (Grazer Uhrturm), the symbol of the city that stands on the hill, has the hour and minute hands opposite each other. Why is that? The next place we visit is a town whose entire city is a World Cultural Heritage site! We head to Hallstatt, known as the 'Pearl of Austria'. As we enter the village by boat, the scenery of the village spread out along the mountain cliff over the clear lake like a pearl comes into view. Before we start touring the village in earnest, we visit a restaurant to appease our hungry stomachs. We taste a fish burger made with freshwater fish from the local lake, which is popular among the locals. However, the owner's husband turns out to be Josef, a famous photographer from Hallstatt! We will introduce how to enjoy Hallstatt to the fullest, from the lake's viewpoints that only locals know about to the mineral springs. Josef invites us to his house to have a meal together. We have to take a boat to get to his house, but the shape of the boat we will take is a bit unusual. It turns out that it is a Plätte, a low, long wooden boat that transported salt in Hallstatt, which once prospered from salt mining. After learning how to row from Josef and rowing the boat, we arrive at the house in no time. As soon as we arrive, we can't help but exclaim in admiration. The lake, which looks like a picture from a fairy tale, is the yard itself! Spend a dreamy night here, where you can jump straight into the lake via the ladder on the terrace. A rocky mountain standing tall in the middle of a lush forest. Schloss Bronnen, which sits like an island on top of that steep cliff! Do people live here too? From the Danube to the Alps, it's right in front of their house! Claudia and Jurgen, a couple who climb 150 steps to get to their house and use the cable car to transport their belongings, still stick to their castle life. They say they spent money on it for two years, even though it's a rented place. Learn about the values they pursue in their homes, and end your journey by taking in the breathtaking view from the observation deck. ✔ Program name: World Theme Travel - Houses in the Scenery Germany/Austria Part 3 A Yard Embracing the Alps ✔ Broadcast date: 2024.06.12
