The gorge is 1.8 km long, at the end of which is the Webergrotte in a rocky basin. As early as the 19th century, a popular main hiking route led from the Grosser Zschand through the Weavers' Gorges to the Weavers' Grotto, then left over a boulder and a staircase into a narrow crevice with steps, then right and through the Upper Weavers' Gorges to the state border with Bohemia and along the well-known tourist path to the Prebischtor. After 1945, there was sometimes a ladder at the Weavers' Grotto, but you were only allowed to go as far as the border. From 2000 at the latest, the administration of the national park, founded in 1990, closed the entire area and all paths above the Weavers' Grotto to hikers and removed the ladder. The Bohemian section of the old route to the Prebischtor is also closed. The Weavers' Gorges have been a dead end since then, but it is still worth it. Note: Climbing over the spot at the Weavers' Grotto from the boulder is strongly discouraged! It is only about 3 m, but the rock there is always wet, green and slippery, there are only two small indentations at the top for your hands, if you slip you fall on your back onto the boulder and then another 5 m down, serious injuries are inevitable, and there is no cell phone reception for emergencies in this rocky basin. https://osm.org/go/0Mgcg2Ko--?m= https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Webergr... The tourist trail in the rear Saxon-Bohemian Switzerland used to be one of the most famous hiking trails. It led from the Lichtenhain waterfall via Kuhstall and the Kleiner Winterberg to the Großer Winterberg, then across the border to the Prebischtor, and on to Herrnskretschen/Hrensko. The 3 km long section in the Czech Republic from the Gr. Winterberg to the Prebischtor has been closed to hikers since 2000. This also includes the famous eastern view of the Prebischtor, where Hermann Krone took the first photos in 1853. (On the day the video was recorded, the weather was forecast to be nice, but there was a strong Bohemian wind, which was particularly noticeable up towards the Prebischtor 😯)
